Dayton, Ohio · On-siteDesign the systems and sub-assemblies inside our X-ray and vision gauging platforms, and own the mechanical scope of each project from the sales-to-engineering handoff through production release. You work directly with the engineers, technicians, service team, and sales staff who build and support the gauges, all under one roof.
- SolidWorks design of gauge systems and sub-assemblies to project deadlines
- Complete design documentation, control documents, and part-number records
- Ownership of project hardware: every part and spare identified and on order against the schedule

Responsibilities
- Design. Designs systems and sub-assemblies to meet project deadlines.
- Documentation. Works with engineers to document the design accurately; maintains control documentation and the part-number log.
- Production support. Works with technicians through manufacturing and testing of systems and sub-assemblies.
- Service support. Gives service technicians the information they need to resolve customer problems.
- Sales support. Prepares proposal drawings to support the quotation process.
- Engineering changes. Investigates assigned engineering change requests and, once approved, implements and signs off the drawing changes under our ECR/ECN process.
- Continuous improvement. Recommends ideas to improve current products or develop new ones.
Ownership and accountability
- Meets every date committed to. If a date is at risk, that risk is raised before the deadline, not after.
- Owns the mechanical scope of assigned projects from the sales-to-engineering handoff through production release, including setting up the job structure in our ERP system.
- Understands the full project scope and identifies and orders all hardware needed to hit the project timeline.
- Leaves every project meeting clear on what is owned, by whom, and by when.
- Supports design reviews and the engineering-to-production handoff.
- Flags schedule and cost risk to the Vice President of Operations as soon as it appears.
Qualifications
- Associate of Science in Mechanical Engineering
- 1 to 3 or more years of experience in system design and service
- Highly proficient in SolidWorks; experience with DraftSight, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
- Customer-site travel is not typically required
